FUCKING TXU!!!
I just got my electric bill for the past month and I just about shit my pants!
We did nothing fucking different from last month! Not a thing! Last months bill was a measly $88 - this month is comes in at fucking $291!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am on a secure super saver plan where my rate is supposed to go down the more electricity that I use. So this month I paid a whopping 14.16 cents per kwh while last month I paid 15.71 cents! Big deal right! And they claim that I used 2172 kwh compared to the 528 I supposedly used last month!!!
To top things off, I watched the meter guy come in the backyard and look at my meter - he didn't go up to it, he stood back and just looked at it. Then for the neighbor he pulled out binoculars to see hers! Chance that he got it wrong? Probably. Chance that they will fix it for me? Un-fucking-likely!!!
OH I am so pissed right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 >:( >:(

The pool pump doesn't run 24/7, no...sometimes I'll run it all weekend if I have to clean up nastiness. In the winter my electric bill is under $100. It's not easy cooling a house in 110F heat with an older AC Unit.

Surely I must have some sort of cosmic ray beaming at me!!!
I bought a lexmark scanner/printer today - brought it home, started hooking it all up, was reading to go ahead and install the vista drivers from the website - then I realized.... what the hell is connecting it to my computer??
Checked and rechecked the box... nothing! The fucking thing didn't come with the USB cable!!!! >:(
Of course, I am not wasting my time taking the fucking thing back and lexmark needs to do something for me - so I got on the phone and called customer service! Of course they were eager to please. I should have my cable by tomorrow or Thursday morning at the latest!
What the hell have I done to derseve all this bad karma??!!!!!!??!!!!! >:(

I bought an HP Deskjet printer last year and it never came with a USB Cable. So I called the customer service, and they told me that they aren't supposed to come with one. You gotta buy one separately. It didn't even come with cartridges .. i had to buy those too. So what I thought was a good deal on a printer ended up costing me almost twice the price. I could have boughten a better printer that came with the USB and ink for the same price >:(

Very few printers come with a USB cable, you probably bought the same printer I did, thank god I have a cable which I keep reusing.

There's the problem! ;D
I need to vent about how damned hard it is to quit smoking. Hell, I've beaten almost every other kind of addiction that's out there, but smokes are kicking my ass. The gums taste horrible, the lozenges too (and they tend to make me puke) and the patches don't stick cause I sweat too much.
I hear there are some new gums out there that actually mask the flavor well, so I'm off tomorrow to see if I can find them. I so want to quit smoking - I want my voice back so I can sing like I used to. Not to mention 150$ a month is being completely wasted.
Ant
Carlos & I are seriously thinking of trying out that new drug (can't remember what it is called). His doc said that everyone he knows who tried has managed to quit. So we figure, what the hell. What do we have to lose-expect an addiction.

He can't work out that he is unable to treat her right, and yet she is incapable of breaking up with him because he can't be bothered to be there for her any more.
I hate seeing people taken advantage of by guys who think they are the best thing that has ever existed. And I use the word thing advisedly. I suddenly feel a lot calmer having typed this now...

^ Is your bathroom on the second floor?
Long ago, I discovered that my toilet had a slow leak, and it made the floor so rotten and moldy, that eventually the water seeped through the floor, leaving water stains on the downstairs ceiling, which eventually started to leak through the floor. My dad had to spend BIG bucks to install a new bathroom and repair the water damage. It was a BIG mess :o
Subject: Re: Need to vent about anything? Do it here!

Speaking of bathrooms: Both our bathrooms need work. I have been wanting to replace the tile on in the downstairs bathroom since we moved down there-at least 5 years ago. We were going to do it a couple of years ago-we contacted a guy who said he would do it but then he said he couldn't due to health reasons-and we haven't been able to find anyone else-YET!!! Hopefully soon.
The upstairs bathroom needs serious help. From many years of people not putting the shower curtain on the INSIDE of tub, the floor got soaked many, many times (and a few times-AFTER we had the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom redone >:( ) so now the floor boards are totally rotten. You walk on it and it "squishes". So, in order to do that floor, not only does the tile need to come up but so does the floor boards and be replaced. The problem-like the other bathroom is finding someone to do it. The said guy said that he would also do that-but again, he backed out.
Also, our last tenants used their washer EVERY DAY!!! The are no vents in the bathrooms (very old house-at least 100 years) and the ceiling became very moldy. After kicking them out, Carlos sprayed the ceiling with Lysol. It did help. A lot of the mold disappeared but there is still some there. I think another shot of Lysol is needed. Also, when they used their dryer (which there is a vent for), they didn't use the vent. >:( >:( >:( Can't remember if they had it out of the window or not. But, the room is a total mess. The downstairs bathroom is our main one and only use the upstairs one when we are in the office (which is most of the day. ;) )

Killing mold is very hard. I hear even bleach will not completely kill it off.
High volume peroxide is much more effective at getting rid of it and the odor.
I hope you don't have too much dryer lint in that room - it is a serious fire hazard.
Ant
I just realize that it was bleach he used-not Lysol. But, it did get some of it off.
As for the dryer lint, we got most of it up (with a vacuum). The dryer is still there but not used. The left a bunch of stuff. We used some of it. They left a microwave oven that when ours finally died after 20 years :o :o we used that but it was a piece of shit and we went out and bought a new one and gave that one away. We sold their washer for $50 and we are still using the AC which is also a piece a shit. Next year we are going to replace it and probably give this one away, too. What a mess they left behind. That is why we took over the entire house and NO MORE TENANTS!!!! I know that we lost revenue in rent but they never paid us rent anyway-so why bother. And then they had the nerve to call and ask for a reference. Carlos said to him, "And say what? That you still owe us over $2000?" This was the guy who said that he was going to pay us every penny-and we never did see a penny. But we did have a nice tax write-off. ;D
But, Carlos & I really enjoy having the whole house to ourselves-and no headaches.

My Rant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok - for those who were a friend of mine on that space place - here is why my account was deleted....
I took pictures of myself today that were by no means pornographic. They were very tasteful, and didn't show any 'bare' essentials. (might have been an ass crack in one but hey - I was showing a tattoo on my back)
So I put them in an album in my pictures and marked it viewable only by me.
I tested it and it worked - no one could see them but me.
I then created a blog and marked it as a preferred list blog, naming only my husband to be able to see it. I tested it and it worked. No problems.
A couple hours later, Rice notified me that my page was deleted. I didn't believe him and went to check - sure enough, without warning they deleted my account!!!!! I have seen other pepole show their goodies fully exposed on there and nothing was done about it! Why the hell was I one of the chosen ones who got deleted for something as innocent as what I did? I could understand if I was posing for the likes of playboy or hustler, but I can assure you they were completely tasteful!!!!

I was smart enough to leave this one alone for a few hours. Hope you wake up in a better mood. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Long winded diatribe to follow: stop reading now if you're smart!
As for me, I need to vent again, because my blood pressure is probably at redline right now.
I got an external hard drive last week, and had a guy install a crapton of karaoke music on it over the past few days. That all went well.
I get home at 3pm, and have spent the last 12 hours or so looking through what I got. Here's where the problems start:
~My computer apparently is allergic to having anything connected to its USB ports. Other than my mouse, all other things USB (mp3 player, recording hardware, etc) have messed up either the computer or the device.
Where to begin....
~~Real Player locked up while playing 80% of these songs even there's not a goddamned thing wrong with the files. Each error took minutes to clear.
~~The search feature locked up countless times as well.
~~I crashed to desktop twice for no fucking reason
Not to mention the Winzip that came with the computer won't unzip the compressed files - I had to download a trial version to accomplish that.
That was aggrivating enough, but it gets better. It's official: the majority of people who make karaoke tracks are fucking retarded.
Isn't the point of karaoke to sing over the original song? To have fun? To see how you sound?
NO! The point of 85% of the music I have is to be singing along, nice and neat, like it should be, only to have some out-of-key fuckface throw in a few half-assed vocals here and there, ruining your karaoke and rendering the track useless for parody purposes.
Some of the harder songs like "One Week" have all of the vocals intact! WTF? That's a cover song, not a karaoke track.
Whomever did the Soundgarden tunes needs to be drawn and quartered... I've heard better MIDI.
I will say there have been some real gems though: I have 4 Simon & Garfunkel tracks that are better than the original instrumentation, as well as a few others like Subterranian Homesick Blues, completely without lyrics (as it should be).
For me to break even on this deal, I need to be able to find roughly ~130 usable tracks. So far I have 12. I'm still optimistic about getting my money's worth, but culling through all of the crap has worn me out today.
For your computer problems-try a sledgehammer. Works great! :D ;D ;D
Adding to my aggivation factor is that my boss came up with a measly $350 out of the $2300 he owes me. Guess I'll be job hunting again soon.
Dolphin is sick with a nasty sinus infection (probably due to the mold in the bathroom), and her insurance won't cover all of her meds w/o her going through some screening verification bullshit, the same shit she went through three months ago. This pissed me off more than anything else today.
My gums are also badly irritated from Nicorette. Dolphin got a prescription from the doc for the latest drug to stop smoking (CoV mentioned it earlier), but the same lame ass insurance company will not cover it. That's extremely fucked up - it would cost them thousands less over time if she didn't smoke, but they'd rather her pay the $126 (x4) for the drug than look out for one of their customers.
I know in the big scheme of things these are minor problems, but those are the ones that piss me off the most.
(phew, I feel a bit better now)
Ant
I'm sorry Dolphin isn't feeling well. I hope she is on the mend soon. As for the Chantix, our insurance wouldn't pay for it either. Our doc had some coupons for it (a whole $10 off-oooh-but that's $10-well, $20 since there was one coupon for each of us). Our doc told us that it actually cost the insurance companies more when they help people to stop smoking because they live longer. So, did Dolphin get it and start it yet?
Something I haven't told ANYBODY yet: but Carlos & I had started it 3 days ago. We are both still smoking at this point but we are down to our last packs (about 4 each) and when those are gone-we will see. I didn't want to tell anyone about this because I don't know if it will work or not. I am skeptical but I'm open minded about it. We shall see.
Quitting the nicotine is a bitch. I've watched my mom struggle with it for years. She's pretty much smoked since she was 16. And that includes through both her pregnancies (luckily my sis and I turned out nor-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA). My sister and I experienced a long range of health problems (bronchitis, allergies, asthma) from the secondhand smoke. It took a car accident, major surgery to alleviate blood clots in her legs, and 10 days at Stanford Hospital to get her to quit. That was when I was 18. She started up again a few years ago, but denies it, even though we can smell it on her after her fifty million trips to the store/gas station/Walmart/whatever. :P
I almost wish she'd come out and admit it rather than try to fool us. We aren't stupid.
Anyways, good luck to all of you trying to quit. I have more faith in you guys doing it than my mom quitting. :-\
Yes, good luck to yous who are trying to quit. I know of three people at my work that are using that Chantix and one has stopped smoking altogether. One I don't see as much and the other is down to 1-2 cigarettes a day. Me; I enjoy smoking too much to quit, but I've cut down from a pack a day to half a pack.
I really don't have anything to vent about right now. :P
Let me see if I can explain this without getting annoyed more.
So last week we took our piece of shit car to the VW shop because the window had slid out of the clamps and needed fixed. Oh, and that fucking engine light was on again. So they fix the window, put the car on the diagnostic machine to see why the light was on, and came to the conclusion that nothing was wrong with it. They've reached this conclusion like five times over the past year and a half. So they turn it off. Anyways, fast forward to Saturday. Lovely day shopping and just enjoying the weather. The stupid engine light came on again. I smelled strong gas, but thought it was exhaust because the roads were crowded. We come out of Costco to find our car leaking gas all over the place. WTF? Figuring it was the same thing that happened in April (gas soaking up in the EVAP canister), we call up Auto Fix (because they were the ones who fixed it in April, and the part was under warranty), and we have it towed to their shop yesterday. Today they call with the diagnosis.
It's not the same part. Some valve or something was causing the gas to flow backwards and it was leaking out somewhere. I'm not really sure how to explain it. Anywho, it's almost $100. They also said that they SHOULD HAVE caught this on Monday because they had it on the diagnostic machine.
My question is: should we go after VW for NOT finding this last Monday? We're out $100, plus $55 more for towing. Considering our budget, this is going screw us over.
What do you guys think?
I've been looking already. The problem is we still owe another year and a half on it, so I'm not sure of how to get rid of a car with so many problems. I kind of wanted to just get rid of it and go with the IGo system (http://www.igocars.com), and then rent a car when we go and visit family. It would make more sense since we live in a city that actually has decent public transportation.
The news got worse today. Apparently, Rice's phone half dropped the call, so he THOUGHT the guy had said $95. It was actually $295. :P
I know I sound selfish for feeling this way, but then again... I'm buying her cigarettes, I don't smoke, so I hate buying them.
It's been over 6 months now!!! It shouldn't take this long to get her some help. This apartment is a one bedroom, so really cramp in here. There are some other problems occuring because of this that I will get to later.
It's been over 6 months now!!! It shouldn't take this long to get her some help. This apartment is a one bedroom, so really cramp in here. There are some other problems occuring because of this that I will get to later.
Dude, if you're letting her stay there and paying for her to live there and eat, then you should tell her no smoking in the apartment. That's just ridiculous, especially because you're buying them for her.
I wished I would have set that rule down when the situation of her(it's my mom) needing a place to stay after the eviction.(due to her hip problem, she can't really work. But my Sister and Brother-in-law were living with her and didn't really do anything to get jobs themselves, that led to the eventual eviction) She might have tried to find a someone else to live with. She should've quit before the eviction happened!
She needs to quit anyway.... Otherwise they won't fix her hip.
The one time I refused to buy for her, she ended up crying... I got so pissed that I said "Fine! I'll go get them, even though I hate doing it!"
She called up my dad, talking like I was mad all the time.(This happened back in late April I think) I was mad because I'm buying for her, but not really buying anything for myself... I was buying Newtypes before she moved in after being evicted, that's 13 dollars a month, compared to 90 dollars a month for her cigarettes, at the time she really had no type of way to pay, now she has Food Stamps, but they ran out over a week ago, still have to early next month before there's more on the card.
The only other problem with Food Stamps is that they only help with food. I also need help with rent while she's still here.
I hate to tell you this, as long as you keep enabling her, she is going to take advantage of you-and that is what she is doing. It is not your place to support her habit. As Nancy Reagan said (man, that is scary that I would quote her :o :D ;D ;D ) just say no! You have to be strong. If she starts crying, so be it. You can't cave into her. If you do, she will continue and continue and continue.
I'm not trying to make her out to be a bad guy or anything.
Sometimes I just feel that way... The thing is she does do things around the place.
Although I do get alittle more help now for cigarettes(from dad), it's still not enough, mainly because it's not given to me every week.(It used to never happen) She's going to have to get a source of income really soon, whether it's work(from getting help training) or SS.
As long as I'm getting financial help, it's not that much of a problem.
I felt alittle pressure(although my dad said on the phone, I'm not trying to pressure you) to let her move in until she got back on her feet... But most of the time now I feel like it's never going to happen... I can get really pessimistic at times and right now I'm really in that state... I feel like it's hopeless. :-\
I saw a few things coming from her eviction and her moving in with me. Namely my nephew being around here most of the time. My sister and her husband are not reliable, when they first found a place(after the eviction)... It didn't have the power or anything like that on(among other things, alot of the wiring was stolen as well). Still they moved in it(along with their son), they said they were about to get the everything turned on, but ended up being lazy about it and taking their time. This tore up my mom, who was concerned(understandably) for Zeke, she was severely upset and crying over it... It got to the point where she pretty much begged me to let him stay until they got their problems fixed. I caved in(despite this being a one bedroom apartment and me feeling alittle cramp with one extra person, I was under too much stress as is from the situation) and said "Okay, Thanks alot Julie(My sister)". Needless to say, he missed abit of school from it, although he did manage to pass.
When summer vacation began, sure enough, he was here over 90% of the time. I feel my sister and her husband just wanted all the free time they could get to themselves. Kevin(Julie's husband) actually got pissed alittle when my dad went to drop Zeke off with them before.(He told my dad to give him a call before bringing his son over. Nevermind the fact that it's his son and he and Julie are supposed to take care him, not me and mom)
If anything, I feel my sister and her husband are the most responsible for this situation happening... After all... They could have prevented this eviction.
My nephew is over here right now... (And has been for a few weeks this month)
I don't mind him being over on the weekends... But I can't have him over here all the time... My landlords(The realtors) found out from maintenance that there were three people in a one bedroom apartment... That actually breaks healthcodes. They talked to me about that. My mom called them up over it, she was put on the lease(so she can get her mail while she's here) and got them straight on the situation. It this happens again, I might get in far worse trouble... Possibly even evicted.
Jess, I'm guessing your VW is at least three years old. New VWs have so many problems there are sites dedicated to them:
http://www.vwsucks.com/
http://www.myvwlemon.com/
The engine light and the window falling out of its track are common problems to newer VWs. What model do you have?
Going after VW is a tall order, but best of luck to you. As far as I know, any problem not fixed in 4 tries makes the car a lemon.
Ant
Thanks for the links. If it's true about VW peeps being asshats, then I can see that my letter won't accomplish much. ::)
We have a 2004 VW Jetta. I'd go abandon it at the original dealership, but they conveniently went out of business a year and a half ago. :P
By the way, it's running fine now. The engine light is still on, but I talked to the guy at Auto Fix, and he said that it's normal and should turn off after driving it around for awhile.
I have been in a real pissy mood lately. I have been very angry and I'm ready to bite off anyone's head who looks at me the wrong way-which is just about everyone. Why? I don't know. It could be nicotine withdrawals. I have been off the cigs since the 5th of Oct. But I find it strange that I am still feeling this way. Poor Carlos. I try not to take it out on him but he just seems to be very convenient. I am not myself and it really bothers me that I have been like this for so fucking long!!!
I'm sure there are medical aids / stuff you can get from the pharmacy to help the symptoms associated with nicotine withdrawals. Perhaps adding some daily exercise regime might help relieve your tensions a bit ... like doing a brisk walk for at least 20 minutes ? You might be inclined to more horizontal exercises too ? ;) ;D
Poor Carlos. If someone's angry about something ... the nearest and dearest are bound to cop a bit of it , deserved or otherwise. I know I did ........ :(
Man, for being a newly rehabbed condo, this place sure has some problems.
We've had to have the maintenance come up and fix the following things since we moved here back in September:
-The plug in our bathtub broke.
-The grout was cracking in our tiles.
-Our bathroom door wouldn't lock.
-The toilet was leaking in Jason's bathroom.
-There was some funky stench coming through the a/c or floor from the sewers.
And now I just had to fix the toilet in Jason's bathroom because it kept running. Nothing major, I just had to tighten the screw on the valve, but still. I thought this was supposed to be a high class place with fancy schmancy crap. :D
To top it off, I need to fix our toilet because it will sometimes randomly run. Lame.
My stupid tit of a husband who rented some anime film for the children without reading the blurb in any detail
"Twenty-year-old Sorata teaches art at the Yamanoue School, and no one would ever suspect that this mousy-looking teacherwould have a life beyond his studies. But Mouse, Sorata's secret alter ego, is a thief with international notoriety - and a shameless (and successful) flirt! With his sexy, busty assistants -- math teacher Mei Momozono, P.E. teacher Hazuki Kakio and school nurse Yayoi Kuribayashi -- Mouse is an unstoppable thief.
I watched some with my daughter and then turned it off because of the content. Tit groping complete with sound effects! Husband just let son watch it ::)
AAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I REALLY need someone to show me how to set up a website. I can create the pages but trying to get it up on the internet, that is a bitch & a half. First, I had a friend help me, but it wasn't much of help. He had me download a program that (in my opinion) is a piece of shit. I manage to get something up there-without the pic. Then I downloaded another program. It is very user friendly in terms of creating a page (haven't even tried to master creating links to make more than one page). But, then I tried to put the page up on the web-and that is where it falls apart. I would think that this shouldn't be too hard since I was born with the "computer gene"-I just need to learn what to do. But it is so frustrating.
Sorry Cat, wish I could help.
I need to rant about my mattress and box springs. We, or I should say, my wife and my mother got a new bed about 8 months ago. From day one I wasn't happy with it - skimping on beds is something you don't do. For fuck's sake, you spend a 3rd of your life there. People spend 5k on a coffin for when they die but balk at the thought of spending 3k on a bed for when they are alive. Anyway, they got this cheap set. It worked okay for a while even though it is only one pillowtop and therefore can't be flipped.
A few months ago I notice the bed is more like a hammock. I flip the box springs over and find they are bowed like a banana. I have never seen a set of box springs shit itself, let alone in 6 months.
I went to get a 6-caster frame with center support for the bed last month. The people at the local store said I should send the mattress and box springs back for being defective. This is where the real irritation starts...
Haynes will not take them back, claiming it's a manufacturing problem. They are correct, but they bullshitted and stalled us constantly for over a week. We finally get ahold Kingsdown who makes the set. They send us this kit, which consists of a string with two sand bags (to measure the bow), a ruler and a digital camera. I've torn the thing down 4 times getting various measurements, manufacturer numbers and other warranty information.
Kingsdown says that their warranty is void unless the box springs are supported by the frame I was going to get. Haynes never said shit about needing that frame. It's only a full, and it's close to impossible to find a 6 post, center bar support frame for anything less than a queen. It also shouldn't be needed.
I'm tempted at this point to say fuck it and take the frame, box springs and mattress to DAV and plop down 1500$ for a real bed and in a queen size. Why the fuck they bought a full when my wife knew we both tend to sprawl when we sleep is something I can't figure out. All the answer I've gotten was "It was on sale". >:(
Note to those who read this tirade: if you are cheap when it comes to buying a bed, you're going to pay for it in the long run.
Ant
I am showing this to Rice. We spent $200 on our bed when we moved, and it's a piece of fucking crap (obviously, seeing as it only cost $200 ;D). It's already sagging and it's only been a year. The box springs are okay though. I wanted one that was going to support my back and stuff because I have a hard time sleeping, but Mr. Cheapie wanted that one. :P
I hear ya.
When I first moved in here, we were using basically 2 bunk beds put together to make a king size bed. That didn't bother me too much except for the fact that the mattresses (yes, plural) were at least 15-20 years old, very, very thin and just killed my back. (This was AFTER sleeping on a waterbed for about 15 years-what a shock.) I finally convinced Carlos to get a new mattress. This was about 5 years ago or so. The mattress we got was ok-and is still ok but not the best. I still wake up with back pain. I highly doubt that I can convince Carlos to get a new mattress since we just bought ours not too long ago. Maybe in a few more years, I can convince him. Oh, btw, the bed frame is STILL 2 bunk beds put together. :D
